Bilder aus Schweden (Svealand)

Das Wort für Schweden in Schwedisch, Sverige, kommt von 'Svea Rike', das Königreich der Svear, eine Nord-germanischen Stammes in der Region um Uppsala basiert (noch heute genannt Svealand). Ihr religiöses Zentrum und politische Zentrum wurde in der heutigen Gamla Uppsala, deren archäologische Erbe diesen alten Zeiten bezeugt. Der Einfluss der Svear wuchs im Laufe der Jahrhunderte als ihr Land in die moderne schwedische Nationentwickelte.
