Photos from France: ParisThe Parisii (hence the name Paris) was a Gallic tribe that inhabited the area near the river Seine from around 250 BC. The Gallo-Roman town was called Lutetia by the Romans. The city reclaimed its original appellation of Paris towards the end of the Roman Empire. The Merovingian king Clovis I established Paris as his capital in 508. |
