Fotos del Connemara


Connemara (en irlandés: Conamara), el cual deriva de Conmhaicne Mara (que significa: descendientes de Con Mhac, de el mar). Los Conmhaicne Mara era una rama de los Conmhaicne, un antiguo grupo tribal la cual tenía un gran número de ramificaciones localizadas en diferentes partes de Connacht. Como esta ramificación de los Conmhaicne estaban localizados junto al mar, pasaron a se conocidos como los Conmhaicne Mara (del Mar). La costa de Connemara es una colección de varias penínsulas, islas y fiordos o puertos naturales. El interior está ocupado por montañas de los Twelve Bens.
