Le nom 'Corée' vient de l'ancien royaume de Koguryo. En coréen, le pays s'appelle Han-guk (한국). Le coréen est écrit avec le script hangul, un alphabet phonétique organisé en blocs syllabiques, qui a été inventé au 15ème siècle. Le pays est riche en superbes temples bouddhistes comme Bulguksa et Tongdosa et possède des paysages superbes, comme dans le Parc National de Seoraksan.
