Mongolia es un país enorme, que lo cubre principalmente la estepa, cuya aridez se incrementa, hacia el desierto de Gobi, al sur. La principal religión es el budismo tibetano, y muchos hermosos monasterios todavía existen a pesar de la destrucción durante la era comunista. Los mongoles son tradicionalmente nómados o seminómados, que moviéndose con sus rebaños según la temporada y que viven en yurtas. Su hospitalidad dejará una impresión indeleble en los visitantes extranjeros.
