El nombre del país proviene de 'Schwyz', un de los cantones que formaron el núcleo de la Antigua Confederación Suiza. El propio topónimo se cree que proceden de 'Suedan' (grabar en alto alemán antiguo), en referencia a la zona de bosque que se quemó. Suiza abarca una gran diversidad de paisajes de alta montaña, hermosos lagos, colinas boscosas y pastizales.
