The name "France" comes from Latin Francia, which literally means "land of the Franks", a germanic tribe which invaded the ancient Gaul at the fall of the Roman Empire. Today's France displays a great diversity of cultures and languages throughout its regions (Brittany, Catalonia, Alsace, Corsica). The landscapes are equally varied : rugged coastline of Brittany, mountain scenery of the Alps or Pyrénées, natural beauty of the Cévennes or the Corbières.
